As digital natives, teens and tweens always seem to have the upper hand over their parents, engaging in risky online behavior while being savvy enough to hide it from their folks.
So, What To Do? Reconnect
- Have the talk. Talk to your kids about how they use the Internet and the potential consequences of revealing sensitive information online.
- Mean is not cool. Discuss cyberbullying with your children, and ways to stop or prevent it.
- Ask for help. Your children are digital natives. Take advantage of this and ask questions about online programs you may be unfamiliar with.
Now more than ever, parents must be proactive in connecting with their children about their online behavior.
